Insurance Claim Handling: Rights, Wrongs and Remedies

This program will begin with a primer on the submission of a claim and the processes used in handling property and casualty claims presented by a third party administrator, a broker and a  public adjuster.  The second panel will explore a range of remedies for those occasions when claims handling goes wrong, including  common law bad faith and Connecticut statutory law.  The Symposium will conclude with a discussion of the Connecticut Insurance Department’s role in policing market conduct and market conduct exams, including a review of current claim handling trends, what can trigger an exam
